Vanuatu Citizenship and Passport Application Process

Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment

Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment is legislated by the Citizenship Act, Cap112 and is framed as the Vanuatu “Development Support Program” (DSP).

Launched in January 2017, the Program has found global popularity as an alternative to the already well-established and well-known Caribbean programs.

Vanuatu stands apart as being the only Citizenship program of its kind in the Asia Pacific Hemisphere.

With a streamlined application process, applicants are attracted to Vanuatu not only for the visa privileges and concessions that Citizens enjoy as they travel the world, but also because belonging to an ecologically pristine, almost tax-free, crime-free and peaceful country provides many attractions for future residency or business operations.

Vanuatu Citizenship is for life, and hereditary and so is an investment not only for yourself, but for the future of your family.

Vanuatu Citizenship Application Process

This step is carried out by the Vanuatu “Financial Intelligence Unit” (FIU). leading to the issue of a letter of acceptance (essentially an “Approval in Principle”). The FIU process is relatively fast – Normally seven to ten days. It results in a letter being produced to confirm the applicant is cleared for Citizenship subject to completing the remaining formalities. The Due Diligence Fee of USD5,000 (non-refundable) needs to be submitted with the Step One documents.

Vanuatu Citizenship Benefits

Vanuatu Citizenship benefits are often perceived as tied to the opportunities for increased global mobility that comes with being a Commonwealth member state.
However, being a citizen of a non-aligned, peaceful country (the ”second happiest on the planet”, according to Happy Planet’s 2021 index) is also a benefit in its own right. When it comes to travel, a warm welcome is always afforded to the holders of a Vanuatu passport.
Further, as Vanuatu grows its diplomatic presence globally, the number of visa concessions is bound to grow, as bilateral relations with other friendly nations are forged.
Aside from pure convenience in travel, Vanuatu Citizenship is often taken by people who wish to secure their family’s future, take advantage of the largely tax-free environment of Vanuatu and seek commercial opportunities in a country that has significant development potential.
Vanuatu Citizenship benefits are thus far more than “passport power” rankings and VIMB encourages all applicants to consider their application as a strategic investment, with multiple opportunities to reap a return on investment for themselves, their family and their future.
