In a landmark meeting, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, warmly welcomed Hon. Matai Seremaiah Nawalu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade of the Republic of Vanuatu. This meeting represented an important step in strengthening the ties between the UAE and Vanuatu, with both nations eager to enhance their relationship and explore collaborative opportunities across diverse sectors.

The dialogue highlighted the intent of the UAE and Vanuatu to bolster their bilateral relations, focusing on areas such as economic growth, renewable energy, investment, commerce, and development initiatives. The session provided a platform to discuss recent regional developments and to exchange views on various global and international matters, emphasizing the significance of their partnership in tackling worldwide challenges.

The UAE’s commitment to fostering global cooperation is evident through its ongoing engagements with Vanuatu. In various development projects, the UAE has been instrumental, including the building of educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and other crucial infrastructures, reflecting its dedication to sustainable growth and improving living standards in the region.

Moreover, the collaboration extends beyond foundational development projects. In 2019, the UAE initiated the Vanuatu-UAE Renewable Energy Venture aiming to advance the integration of renewable energy in Vanuatu. This initiative underscores the UAE’s wider commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and renewable energy solutions in the area.

The cooperation also encompasses facilitating Vanuatu’s active participation in international forums. The UAE has been active in supporting Vanuatu’s engagement in global organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, demonstrating a commitment to fostering international discourse and collaboration.

Furthermore, the reciprocal nature of this relationship is highlighted by Vanuatu’s proactive approach towards enhancing ties with the UAE. In 2018, Vanuatu’s Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, made a significant visit to the UAE to discuss potential cooperation fields. This visit emphasized Vanuatu’s intent to solidify and expand their relationship and explore diverse opportunities for collaboration.
